Wages Of Fear
This is a initially slow black & white film that is well worth watching for it's gripping second half where two trucks filled with unstable nitro-glycerin have to be driven through miles of tortuous terrain.

The Cat Came BackAnd the cat came back the very next day... Everyone seems to like this. A catchy tune and an increasingly strange story to go with it. Do you want to know why a cow is tied to the railroad tracks? Watch it to find out.
When the Wind BlowsDiscovering this film on one of my old tapes reminded me how powerful it was. We see dramatic world events filtered through newspaper and television. The elderly couple struggle to understand what is going on and cope with the aftermath. A serious look at the effects of a nuclear war is never going to produce a happy film. Threads is a more gruesome look at the same topic.
LabyrinthLabyrinth is a wonderful fantasy film. It balances a few human actors against a multitude of puppets in the great muppet tradition. Some good characterisation with Hoggle, Ludo, and Didymus amongst others. I love the labyrinth itself with its illusions, shifting passages, puzzles, traps, and Escher-esque centre. Great fun, definitely something to watch.
PrimerI knew nothing about this film beforehand. Quickly it became apparent that people were experimenting with strange technology but the results were still not apparent. To me it was slightly slow to start and a bit confusing in the end. It's an interesting film and probably requires a second viewing. Try experiencing it with the same lack of information.
The Adventures of Baron MunchausenThis is a magnificent film, one of the best by Gilliam's best, and one of my favourites. It deals with the fantastic life and tales of Baron Munchausen and the siege of an unnamed European city. In a rational world the Baron is not happy and not welcome. We have great performances and wonderfully rich sets. Fact and fiction blend together until nobody knows what is going on. I love the Baron's servants, with their incredible abilities, and the Baron, with his impossible ones.
VincentThis is an enjoyable short piece which typifies Tim Burton's style. Vincent, the actor, has a perfect voice to accompany Vincent, the character, who has a dark obsession with the tales of Edgar Allan Poe.
AkiraSome films stand out from the crowd and Akira is one of these. Its animation shows fantastic attention to detail and its soundtrack roars along with the motorcycles. While the plot might not actually makes sense it is stylish and mysterious. Watch out for the psychics, the film gives a powerful sense of how dangerous their abilities really are.
The Princess BrideThis is a great fairy story with all the elements a child (or adult who hasn't grown up) could ask for: a prince, a damsel, a giant, a master swordsman, even a pirate!
The IncrediblesThis is a great computer animated film. This is a great animated film. This is a great film. I left the cinema thinking, "I want to see the sequel to this." Find out about the secret life behind the superheroes and what happens when they get married and have kids. Watch it!
